About Heritage House Goods
Welcome to Heritage House Goods, a place where timeless style, practical finds, and the simple pleasures of home come together.
Heritage House Goods grew out of a desire to begin something new during a new chapter of life. After retiring several years ago from a career as a resource analyst at a large research laboratory, I stayed busy enjoying my hobbies and working on remodeling projects around our home. But as those projects began to slow down, I found myself looking for a new challenge—something interesting, creative, and rewarding that would keep me active and engaged.
I’ve always enjoyed working on projects that genuinely interest me, which is what drew me to sales and marketing. It was an entirely new area for me and an opportunity to learn skills I had never developed before. One of my biggest challenges has been keeping up with newer computer technology and techniques that simply weren’t part of my working life years ago. There have certainly been moments when I’ve wondered if I could keep up, but every time I sit down at the computer, I’m amazed by how much I’m learning and accomplishing.
That spirit of learning and discovery is part of what inspired Heritage House Goods. I wanted to create something that reflects my appreciation for home, comfort, useful products, and those special little touches that make a house feel like your own.
I also love the flexibility this new venture provides. I can work toward my goals at my own pace while continuing to enjoy the things that make retirement meaningful. My initial goal is simply to earn enough to offset the cost of my training. Over time, I hope to build an additional source of income that will allow my husband and me to enjoy retirement more fully—and perhaps do some of the traveling we’ve had to postpone as the cost of just about everything has continued to rise.
Most importantly, this journey has reminded me that retirement doesn’t mean we have to stop learning, growing, or trying new things. Sometimes the best adventures begin when we step outside of what we already know.
